Kids auditions, what a nightmare. Annoying parents, ridiculous call times, waiting forever and ever. Who is responsible, and when did this phenomenon unique to kids auditions begin?
First of all, who wants to be at these kids auditions more? Sometimes it seems like the parents have more stars in their eyes than the kids. Kids auditions are quite well suited to the sensibilities of kids, though. Constant changing schedules, tons of other kids to get into mischief with, unpredictable outcomes = never-ending excitement for most kids! For many kids auditions are the most fun you can have without breaking things and screaming at the top of your lungs.
The first kids auditions were held sometime in the middle ages, but they were only to play the roles of house pets, farm animals and the occasional insect. With the industrial revolution came new and different kinds of kids auditions, like little boy shoveling coal, and the ever favorite, matchstick girl. Yes, kids auditions certainly have changed since back then, now they just audition you for commercials advertising food products that will either give you cancer, a heart condition, diabetes, or some combination of the three.
